Welcome to Sydney Insight Meditators

SIM is a not-for-profit association to support insight (or vipassana) meditation, a practice that the Buddha himself founded over 2500 years ago.  SIM organises workshops, talks and retreats with both Australia-based and overseas renowned meditation teachers. The programs, except where noted, are suitable for beginning as well as experienced meditators.   SIM does not offer weekly sittings but is affiliated with several local meditation groups (sanghas) which do.

Position Vacant - SIM Technology Manager

SIM is looking for a volunteer technology manager to take over from the incumbent.  The main tasks are the care and feeding of this website and the (minimal) management of the SIM domain name and email accounts.  This site is built on the Joomla 1.5 CMS platform and is very straightforward to manage for someone with a small amount of technical and CMS experience.  If you'd like to contribute to the wellbeing of SIM and the propagation of the Dharma and have an interest in web technology, this might be just for you.  Please email webmasterATsydneyinsightmeditators.org (replace "AT" with @) if you're interested, or have questions.

 

Stephen and Martine Batchelor's retreat now open

SIM is pleased to announce that the October retreat to be taught by renowned Buddhist authors and practitioners Martine and Stephen Batchelor is now open for registrations.  Please go to the "Events" section for more details and to access the registration form.

SIM Needs You!

SIM is staffed by a small group of committed volunteers, none of whom are paid for their work.  We are always looking for help from the insight community with such things are organising retreats, drafting and sending communications, conducting marketing for events and many other things.  If you are interested in helping SIM's work and to help ensure that the Dharma thrives in Sydney, please let us know by completing this form.
